Hitting the open highway for a road trip is one of America's favorite pastimes. For years we have been touring the highways and byways and exploring the back roads that make our country so interesting. But before you head out on your trip, take a little extra time to make sure that you are nice and prepared.

For starters, make sure that you have your route all planned out ahead of you. And if you are planning on traveling through areas that may have spotty cell phone coverage, it is a good idea to print out the driving directions to your destination and stash them in the glove box just in case your navigation app isn't working. Having a backup route in mind is also a good idea just in case you run into any unforeseen obstacles on the way.

Keeping some other just-in-case items in your car can also be very helpful. Jumper cables, a small set of tools, and tire chains (if you're traveling through snowy areas) can come in very handy in a pinch. Lastly, it is a good idea to bring your vehicle in to see us here at Montgomery Lincoln before you go. Have us do a quick oil change and tire rotation for you. While we have it up on the rack, let us do a quick fluid top off and brake inspection so that you are sure that all systems are a go on your car, truck, or SUV.
