Comparing 2017 Lincoln MKC to 2016 Lexus NX 200t

Introduced for the 2015 model year, the Lexus NX 200t is powered by the brand's fi rst gasoline direct-injected turbo engine. A 2.5L hybrid engine is also available. Standard equipment includes LED lighting in the door handles, low-beam portion of the headlamps, fog lamps, DRLs, brake lamps and turn signal indicators in the outside rearview mirrors. Changes for the 2016 model year are mostly limited to new exterior colors and the introduction of the Lexus Enform Service Connect, which allows owners to view information remotely about certain aspects of their vehicle. See how Lincoln MKC compares.

Competitive Perception

Lexus claims that the NX 200t combines design, intuitive technology and a potent turbocharged engine to take on whatever urban adventure comes your way.

  • 2.0L Dual VVT-i I-4:
    • 235 horsepower
    • 258 lb.-ft. of torque

Lincoln Reality

Long derided for its "vanilla" design approach, Lexus has truly decided to go "edgy." Unfortunately, the edgy new design has not been well received by the media. As for their "potent turbocharged engine," more horsepower means more fun to drive. Either Lincoln MKC engine choice provides more horsepower than the 2.0L in NX 200t:

  • 2.0L GTDI I-4:
    • 240 horsepower
    • 270 lb.-ft. of torque
  • 2.3L GTDI I-4:(1)
    • 285 horsepower
    • 305 lb.-ft. of torque

Competitive Perception

Lexus NX 200t is frequently lauded as being the best SUV for the money.

Lincoln Reality

Any way one measures it, Lincoln MKC delivers superior value. Take fuel economy, for example. While the Lexus 2.0L has an edge, it requires premium fuel; Lincoln MKC can run on 87-octane fuel, making it the better overall value. Lincoln MKC FWD Premiere is also priced $2,000(2) less than the entry-level NX 200t, yet it off ers a fuller complement of standard equipment.

Competitive Perception

The NX 200t delivers a copiously roomy interior.

Lincoln Reality

In reality, many media reviews have noted the limited cargo capacity of the NX 200t. Its 17.7 cubic feet pales in comparison to the 25.2 cubic feet in Lincoln MKC. Lincoln MKC also delivers more rear leg room and more head room (front and rear) than the NX 200t.

1) Horsepower and torque ratings achieved with 93-octane fuel.
2) Based on MY2016 pricing. 2017 competitive pricing unavailable at time of publication. Pricing is MSRP, including destination and delivery charges, but excluding taxes and cost for additional options and packages. Note: Pricing is subject to change.
