Competitive Perception

As with any BMW, the X5 35i is positioned as the "ultimate driving machine." Its 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine delivers 300 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque.

Lincoln Reality

Both Lincoln MKX engine choices deliver more horsepower than the 3.0L in the X5 35i - 303 and 335 for the 3.7L Ti-VCT and 2.7L GTDI, respectively. The twinturbocharged 2.7L GTDI also delivers 80 more lb.-ft. of torque(2) than the 3.0L in X5 35i.

Lincoln Reality

The lowest-priced BMW X5 35i costs $17,310 more than a base-level Lincoln MKX. The Lincoln MKX value story is further heightened when one considers the following:

  • Lincoln MKX off ers the additional comfort of available cooled front seats; the best X5 35i can do is offer available ventilated front seats
  • Auto high-beam headlamps are available for $590 via the Climate Package on Lincoln MKX. To get these features, X5 35i customers must pay an additional $1,900
  • Features such as inflatable rear safety belts and active noise control are not available at any price on X5 35i

Lincoln Reality

Lincoln MKX is also designed to provide enhanced handling and control under adverse road conditions. It off ers standard Torque Vectoring Control,(3) which improves vehicle handling under all conditions, especially in curves. Also standard is AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability ControlTM).

For those who want to further master the elements, Lincoln MKX is available with all-wheel drive and Lincoln Drive Control. Lincoln Drive Control includes continuously controlled damping (CCD), electric powerassisted steering (EPAS) and active noise control.
