Comparing 2017 Lincoln Navigator to 2016 Infiniti QX80

Little has been updated on Infiniti QX80 for 2016. A new Signature Edition, which includes Driver Assistance and Split Bench Packages, Saddle Tan high-contrast interior, bodyside moldings and chrome mirror caps were among the changes from 2015. A new Special Edition version, limited to just 1,000 units and with a starting MSRP of nearly $89,000, is also available. Many of the shortcomings pointed out by automotive journalists - such as styling and high price tags - remain unresolved for 2016. See how Navigator compares.

Competitive Perception

The Deluxe Technology Package rewards QX80 owners with ultimate luxury, including climate-controlled front seats, a 15-speaker Bose® surround-sound system and leather-covered interior handles and speaker grilles.

Lincoln Reality

At $5,500, Infiniti's Deluxe Technology Package is already pricey. The price disadvantage against Navigator is further magnified when one considers that to get the Deluxe Technology Package, QX80 customers must also opt for the Driver Assistance Package ($2,500), the Theater Package ($2,400) and the 22-inch Tire and Wheel Package ($2,800).

That puts the cost of heated and cooled front seats and the surround-sound system at an additional $13,200. Both features - and much more - are standard on Lincoln Navigator

Competitive Perception

Infiniti QX80 offers an extensive suite of advanced technology systems, now divided into a Driver Assistance Package and a Deluxe Technology Package.

The extensive technologies in Navigator include such Driver-Assist features as a Forward Sensing System, Reverse Sensing System and BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert. All are standard on Lincoln Navigator.

Competitive Perception

Inside and out, Infiniti QX80 is as big as a land yacht.

Lincoln Reality

It's true that the QX80 is longer than Navigator, which translates into a wider turning circle, making Navigator easier to maneuver in tighter quarters, such as city streets.

Navigator is bigger where it counts: inside. It offers 37.7 inches of leg room for third-row passengers vs. 28.8 inches for QX80. Navigator also delivers 18.1 cu. ft. of cargo capacity behind the third row - 1.5 cu. ft. more than QX80.
